Land for family farming ?

Date:

In collaboration with the European Association of Land Management Institutions (AEIAR, Association Européenne des Institutions d’Aménagement Rural), I am pleased to invite you to the seminar on ”Land for family farming? Tools and policies in Wallonia and Europe” to be held on Tuesday 7th October, 2014 at 9:00am at the CSC Training and Meeting Centre in Bouge.

Land is the basis of agricultural production. This essential resource is becoming more and more scarce. Speculation and growing investment of non-agricultural capital are increasing land concentration and hindering access to land by young farmers.

Faced with such challenges, land policies are sometimes a necessary response. As such, Wallonia has adopted a new Agricultural Code. A number of public initiatives exist elsewhere in Europe.

In this International Year of Family Farming, it is important to take stock of these issues, and this seminar will be an excellent opportunity to do so.

Please confirm your place by 1 October at the latest, at :  http://agriculture.wallonie.be/seminairefoncier

Thank you in advance for attending, and we looking forward to seeing you there.
